  LIVE: Three Dead, Thousands Evacuated As Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Malaysia Three people have died and more than 90,000 people had been evacuated to temporary shelters in Malaysia, according to the National Disaster Command Centre on Friday (November 29, 2024) as officials warned the monsoon season could bring the country's worst flooding in a decade. Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that the floods were expected to be more severe than in 2014, when nearly a quarter of a million people were forced from their homes.

  笹子トンネル事故　犠牲の石川友梨さん両親、「真相」いまも求め（毎日新聞） 毎日新聞 笹子トンネル天井板崩落事故で犠牲になった石川友梨さん＝両親提供 　12年たつ今も、最愛の娘を失った事故の「真相」を探し求めている。2012年12月に発生し、9人が死亡した中央自動車道笹子トンネルの天井板崩落事故。犠牲になった石川友梨さん（当時28歳）の両親は、トンネルを管理する中日本高速道路（名古屋市）の社員との対話を続け、同社側の説明では判然としない事故の人的要因に迫ろうとしている。【野田樹】  【写真】事故で崩落、天井板の展示も　「安全啓発館」  　友梨さんの父信一さん（75）と母佳子さん（66）は11月7日、神奈川県横須賀市の自宅で中日本高速の社員3人の弔問を受けた。事故直後の13年1月から月命日の前後に同社員が訪れ、この日で142回を数えた。信一さんは「対話しなければ、相手を理解することはできない」と会い続ける理由を語った。23年5月には、ベテラン社員との対話も実現した。 　12年12月2日、友梨さんが友人と乗っていたワゴン車は、崩れた天井板の下敷きになって炎上。8日後、信一さんは山梨県内で、黒く焦げた塊に変わり果てた友梨さんと対面した。「娘の無念を心にとどめたかったので見てよかった。活動を続けるモチベーションになっている」と振り返った。 　13年に国土交通省の事故調査・検討委員会がまとめた報告書によると、設計から施工、点検まで複数の要因が積み重なり、天井板のつり金具を固定するボルトが抜け落ちて事故に至ったとしている。石川さん夫妻らは報告書が技術的な原因にとどまるため、中日本高速による追加調査を求めてきた。 　同社は「委員会に多数のデータを提出し、ソフト面の問題も検討した」と説明。同年に「安全が何よりも優先という当然のことが、日常の中に埋没していた」などと社内の問題点を検証した結果を公表した。 　ただ、石川さん夫妻が知りたいのは、もっと具体的な要因だ。完成を急いでやっつけ仕事になったのではないか、漫然と落ちることはないと思って点検していたではないか――。推測の域を出ない疑問が、次々に浮かんだ。真相究明を求めた民事訴訟では、納得のいく答えはなかった。刑事裁判にも期待したが、20年までに関係者全員が不起訴になった。 　石川さん夫妻は、事故前の12年...
