On December 15, 2025, a chaotic brawl broke out in the Mexico City Congress during a heated debate over reforms to dissolve the city's independent Transparency Institute (InfoCDMX) and transfer its functions to a government-controlled agency under the Comptroller’s Office.

The opposition, primarily from the right-wing National Action Party (PAN), accused the ruling left-wing Morena party (which holds the majority) of breaking prior agreements to make the new oversight body tripartite with representation from multiple parties. PAN lawmakers occupied the podium in protest, leading to physical confrontations—mostly involving female legislators—where shoving, hair-pulling, slapping, and yelling ensued at the front of the chamber.

The incident was broadcast live and quickly went viral, with the Fox News post (shared on December 16) garnering hundreds of thousands of views. After the scuffle, PAN members walked out, allowing Morena to resume and approve the dissolution without opposition.
