Anne Hathaway asks Anna Wintour at the #Oscars what she thinks of her dress: Wintour replied: “And the nominees are…”

At the **2026 Oscars**, Anne Hathaway and Anna Wintour shared a hilarious, scripted moment onstage while presenting the awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Hathaway, wearing a stunning black velvet **Valentino** gown covered in delicate floral embroidery (a tribute to the late designer, with whom she had a close friendship), playfully asked Wintour: > “Anna, just curious… what do you think of my dress tonight?” Wintour, channeling her iconic **Miranda Priestly** energy from *The Devil Wears Prada* (the film loosely inspired by her), coolly ignored the question, adjusted her signature sunglasses, and deadpanned: > “And the nominees are…” The line drew big laughs from the audience and instantly went viral as a perfect nod to their shared movie history—Hathaway starred as Andy Sachs, while Wintour's real-life persona inspired Meryl Streep's icy editor character. The clip racked up millions of views quickly, with reactions praising Wintour's dry humor and Hathaway's graceful delivery. Many called it "peak on-brand" for both—savage yet charming Hollywood-fashion crossover gold.

Groundbreaking: Anne Hathaway graces the Oscars 2026 red carpet in floral Valentino

Anne Hathaway is taking Runway to the red carpet.

The actress looked like Hollywood royalty on the Oscars 2026 red carpet, wearing a black Valentino Haute Couture gown with stunning allover embroidered flowers.

Anchored by a wide black belt, the mermaid silhouette showed off her hourglass figure and the star added opera-length black velvet gloves.

The design was perhaps a reference to on-screen boss Miranda Priestley’s famous “groundbreaking” quip when presented with “florals for spring” in the 2008 movie.

Hathaway pulled her hair back into an elegant half-updo and accessorized with Bulgari jewels, debuting the brand’s new Eclettica collection. The actress dazzled in a diamond bib necklace and oversized drop diamond earrings.

Her necklace gave way to an 8.02-carat pear-cut Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond that is surrounded by pear, round and step-cut diamonds. The total carat weight of her sparkling necklace was more than 35 carats.

Hathaway’s light-catching earrings and rings matched the stunning necklace, also featuring yellow and white diamonds.

Her choice to wear Valentino was apt, as she’s a longtime supporter of the design house and close personal friend to the late designer, who just died in January of this year.

Hathaway, 43, presented the awards for costume design and makeup during tonight’s awards show at the Dolby Theatre alongside Anna Wintour — who was famously the inspiration for Priestly. And she will reportedly be part of a special “Devil Wears Prada 2” reunion with co-stars Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt.

The fashionable film hits theaters May 1 and see Hathaway returns as Andy Sachs and Streep and Blunt reprise their roles as Runway editor-in-chief Priestly and Emily Charlton.

One who won’t be returning? Hathaway’s on-screen boyfriend, played by Adrien Grenier, who told Page Six that he believes the “backlash” to his character Nate caused him to be left out of the sequel.

The trio first teased their upcoming sequel at the 2024 SAG Awards, where Hathaway took her dedication a step further, wearing a cerulean Atelier Versace gown as a nod to one of the most famous scenes from the original 2006 flick.

While she’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of “The Devil Wears Prada,” it’s been over a decade since Hathaway has been to the Academy Awards. She last appeared in 2014, wearing a Gucci halter neck embellished with a crystal bodice.

In 2013, she won best supporting actress for her role as Fantine in “Les Misérables” and who could forget her turn as host alongside James Franco in 2011, which The Post declared the “worst” ever.
